It is hard to believe that we have only managed one Sunday club ride during the whole of September, after hoping for some nice Autumnal weather, we have had one good old downpour, followed by another, and another...Well you get the gist. September was one storm after another and it is also getting dark very early.
Many thanks to Alex for stepping in and leading a ride to Virginia Water. One event that did go ahead successfully was our friend, Nancy Mehta's charity ride from London to Paris. We haven't managed to catch up with Nancy since she completed her ride in Paris last weekend, but from updates she posted on our group Whatsapp, it sounds like she had some very testing conditions to deal with. We'll be hearing a lot more about Nancy's ride soon.
We'll also be introducing you to more of our friends in the future. Other club's have a 'Meet the Members' section and we will be asking more of the team to write about themselves and their involvement of HWCC.
We welcomed two new members to HWCC recently, Mark and Paula. We look forward to riding with you again soon.
During last month we also welcomed two new industry partners. Richmond Cycles are now offering our members 10% discount on any components and Craft Cadence are offering our members 12% discount on any product in their range.
Now that we are in October, we have just three weeks until the clocks change again. We will attempt a few more Wednesday Pretzel rides in Richmond Park, weather permitting. But our midweek pretzel rides will ultimately be put on hold until next Spring, some of us have already started to dust off our indoor trainers and re-activated our Zwift accounts. Yes, indoor riding season is nearly upon us.
Coming up this month, we have short rides to Leatherhead and the recently discovered Charlie & Ginger Café, we will head to an old favourite, Dorney Court and try to ride around the 2012 Olympic rowing venue and we have our last Green Intermediate ride of the year to Wargrave, to once again visit H'Artisan Café. The big event comes on the last weekend of the month when we celebrate the 2nd Anniversay/Birthday of HWCC by visiting The Queen Stage in Effingham, which was the destination of the first ever HWCC Sunday Club ride.
If you would like to join us on our future rides, visit our Events page and sign up for either a Full Member Induction Ride or a Beginners Session. Once you have attended either of those events you will be given more details on joining the Club.
We look forward to meeting you soon. In the meantime you can use some of the links at the top of the page to view our social media channels.
