Blue - Isle of Wight

When:- Sunday 11th August 2024, meet at 06.15am for a 06.30am depart. We will be departing promptly at 06.30am.

Where:- We meet at Hampton Court Train Station, Hampton Ct Way, Molesey, East Molesey KT8 9AE. For those that use the What3Words app, the meeting point is ///amount.focal.lives.

We will then drive to Portsmouth which takes approx 90 mins, and aim to catch the 08:00 ferry to Fishbourne, where we will start the ride. Last year we were able to catch the 16:00 ferry back to Portsmouth. We need to book ferry tickets, so we will close the RSVP for this event, two weeks before the event date, however, if you would like to come along, please sign up early.

How:– An advanced ride over a distance of 65+ miles/104+ km. This is a 'no-drop' ride and the group will cycle at a comfortable pace for all riders.

Route:- Blue - Isle Of Wight Loop. Last year we cycled clockwise around the island, and we will decide which way we cycle depending on the wind direction on the day. You can download the .gpx from the ‘Files’ page or use the following links:-

You can't download the .gpx from here, but you can dive into the route and examine any segments or climbs in a bit more detail.

Please bring two water bottles, snacks, cash/cards for coffee, lights, a pump, Allen keys/multi-tool and at least one spare inner tube.

The aim will be to ride together, waiting at junctions and at tops of hills, if required, to keep the group together.

THIS IS A RIDE FOR FULL HWCC CLUB MEMBERS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED A SATURDAY FULL MEMBER INDUCTION RIDE.

ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET - THIS IS REQUIREMENT OF OUR BRITISH CYCLING INSURANCE, AND WE CANNOT ALLOW ANYONE WITHOUT A HELMET TO JOIN OUR RIDES.

MEMBERS ARE REMINDED THAT PARTICIPATION OF ANY HWCC EVENT IS AT THE MEMBER’S SOLE RISK.
